The Power of a Ripple: Turning a lifetime of waiting into a smile.

Mario was born in Ayarza, a small village in the hills of Santa Rosa.

He grew up without healthcare, without education, without the chance to dream beyond survival.

Orphaned as a child, he was raised by his sister.

He never learned to read or write—but he learned to work, to pray, and to believe.

Years later, Mario married and became a father.
Four children. Three sons and one daughter.
Then cancer took his wife when she was only 31.

For 46 years, he lived with a cleft lip.
People stared. Some didn’t see beyond his condition.
But Mario never stopped believing that God would open a door.

That door opened when Partner for Surgery arrived in his community.
Guided by Health Promoter Dina Salguero, Mario met Dr. Wayne Hollinger during our rural mission in Jutiapa in July 2025.

This Sunday, Mario will meet the Team Broken Earth Newfoundland.
Soon, he will receive his long-awaited surgery—and his new smile.

When asked what it means to him, Mario said:

“I would feel happy. Like something inside me has finally healed.”

This is what your support makes possible.
It doesn’t just change a smile—it restores dignity, rebuilds faith, and renews life.
